New York City Recap: Photos From the City
I recently got back from a trip to New York City with a friend that was with filled with lots of walking, good food, and countless photos.
I don’t think I’ve ever taken so many photos on a trip before, and as a result, I thought it would be fun to share some of my favourites along with a little story behind them.

I didn’t get to the New York Public Library during my last trip in 2022 so when we found ourselves there on the first full day of this trip, I was elated to say the least. It truly felt magical being there – looking through all the historical displays, the books, and honestly just people watching (I am so envious of the individuals who get to do research there, such a dream). It was a wonderful experience and a great way to start the trip.

Also, on our first full day there, we watched a live taping of Seth Meyers at Radio City Music Hall. Prior to lining up for the show, we took our time exploring the area and inside the building. I never realized how large the building itself was. Naturally, the filming of the actual show was exceptional – Seth is hilarious and one of my favourite late-night hosts! Being at the show was surreal, and there were moments where it was hard to feel in the moment just because I am so used to just watching him from behind a screen!

After Seth Meyers, we had a very late dinner (9:30 p.m. was the earliest reservation we could get) at Din Tai Fung. I had soup dumplings for the first time, wonton soup, and a steamed pork bun (I also had never had these before either). It was mouth-watering!

We spent several hours at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) looking at all the incredible pieces. I never thought I would see Andy Warhol’s work in person! It was magical and I definitely left feeling more inspired to write, and for a newfound appreciation for the concept of creation.

We went to one of Timothée Chalamet’s favourite coffeeshops – MUD, and it did not disappoint. I got a hot chocolate (which was very soothing after some rain) and a chocolate croissant (I’ve been on a chocolate kick since Easter).

We walked all the way to the Brooklyn Bridge on the same day we went to MUD. It was a wonderful day, but my feet were screaming by the end of it. Just before we got to the Brooklyn Bridge, I had this thought that maybe I would appreciate it enough because I was so tired from walking … this was not the case (despite carrying my journal and three newly purchased books). As we approached the bridge, my feelings of tiredness evaporated more and more. It was well worth the walk – absolutely magnificent. There were a lot of people running while we were there, and I did wonder if the runners also felt similar to us or whether they run along it so often that they’re just used it?

We went to Central Park twice! Our first time, we just walked around for a little bit and the second time, our last full day, and the same day we went to the MoMA, we did a self-guided cycling tour. The cycling tour was a wonderful way to see more of the park, of course stopping for photos along the way.

Have you even been to New York if you didn’t get a bagel?
I am fortunate to have travelled to the United States many times previously but this time around, as a Canadian, the timing was a bit interesting. But the flights were non-refundable so we decided to make the most of it and support local as often as we could whilst there!
