My New Year’s Resolutions

The year 2018 is officially in the past and 2019 is in full swing.

With that being said, many people, including myself, have made New Year’s resolutions in order to better themselves. While you’ve probably heard people say they’re going to eat healthier, work out more, and spend more time with family and friends, I decided to list my personal New Year’s resolutions and my reasonings for them.

Here are my New Year’s resolutions for 2019 (in no particular order).

Resolution #1: Finish Poetry Book

I have been actively writing a poetry book for the past six months, however, I often put off writing due to being too busy. This year it is a big goal of mine to make more time to write the book and hopefully finish it by the end of the year.

In order to achieve this, I am planning to dedicate at least an hour every day to write.

Note that it is not a goal or resolution to publish this piece of work in 2019, hopefully, that will come later. For now, my goal is just to finish it for myself.

Resolution #2: Create Two EDM Tracks

Now, hear me out.

I know this resolution in particular will seem like the outlier on this list but I have always had a strong passion for EDM music. And I have dabbled with the idea of creating my own music for years now but have always been too afraid to actually give it a shot.

This year that’s going to change.

Similar to the poetry book, I’m unsure as to whether these songs will actually ever go anywhere. But as mentioned, it’s something I’ve always wanted to do and have always had a passion for.

And, if we’ve learned anything on social media it’s that life is too short to not do what you want to. Maybe creating two tracks will go super well and I’ll be able to make more, but for now I am starting slow.

Resolution #3: Get Healthy

This resolution may seem incredibly broad, and maybe it is, but it is definitely the one that is the most important to me. For a lot of people, myself included, 2018 was a super hard year in terms of health.

This year my mental health plummeted, my anxiety skyrocketed, I lost track of going to the gym, and towards the end of the year I didn’t have the best eating habits as a result of everything mentioned.

In 2019 I want to get a grasp on all these aspects of my life again. This resolution is probably going to be the hardest to achieve but definitely, in my opinion, the most rewarding.

This resolution, I’m aware, also may not be achieved in just one year. One thing I learned in 2018 was the importance of my health, so I am willing to spend as long as I need to in order to better myself.

If you have any, what are some of your New Year’s resolutions?
