Where Have I Been?

There is no denying that I have put my blog on the back burner for the past couple of months. My last blog post was in August, and it’s now November.

Me being absent from my blog has completely defeated the purpose of me having it in the first place – which was to inform readers about my journey as a freelance writer, and as a bookworm.

With that said, however, just because I haven’t been posting on my blog does not mean I have stopped writing and reading. The purpose of this blog post is to inform readers about where I have been and what I have been up to, and to promise to not go that long again without posting.

Let’s begin, starting with what I’ve been reading.

As mentioned in my previous blog post, in August I read You by Caroline Kepnes,  Supermarket by Bobby Hall, Tweak by Nic Sheff, and Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. Now, I am currently reading The 4-Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss. Along with finishing Ferriss’ book in November, I also am aiming to read Too Much Happiness by Alice Munro.

So, now where have I been in terms of freelance writing?

I currently am still working with the incredible client whom I’ve been working with since April, and things are wrapping up! And I am still actively brainstorming article ideas to pitch to online and print publications. However, the main thing that occurred over the past couple of months is me starting school again – after previously graduating with an Advanced Diploma in journalism.

In September, I started a course at Mohawk College – Small Business – Business Fundamentals. This program will give me the information, tools, and skills I need to properly run my own freelance writing business. I was a little hesitant to leave the working world and go back to school, but as my wise mother put it – you can only Google so much.

I am in my third month of school now and am absolutely loving it. I have already learned so much about business and myself, met some incredible people, and had some great experiences. I am in a math class which is a little bit scary since math has never been my strongest subject. But overall, I am loving how things are going and incredibly happy with my decision to go back to school for the year.

Although I must say, I am looking forward to the holidays!

Until next time (which hopefully won’t be very long).
